SavvyMenuAI
For independent restaurants

A host that only says what's true.

SavvyMenu turns the menu you already have — a PDF, a scan or a phone photo — into an assistant that answers guests on your website and at the table. It answers from your menu and the facts you give it, and when it doesn't know, it says so.

  1. What's in the braised short rib?
  2. Answered from the menu
Beef short rib braised in red wine, with celery-root purée and gremolata — $34.
  3. Is it gluten-free?
  4. Not on the menu — so it won't claim it
I don't have verified info on that. Best to call the restaurant directly to confirm.
  5. Can I book a table for 2 on Friday?
  6. Hands off to your booking link
I can't make bookings myself, but you can reserve here.

First course

It answers from your menu — and says so when it can't.

Every reply is built from what you've published and the facts you've written, in the personality you choose. Here's one answer, taken apart.

House rules · built in, always on

  • No dietary claims it can't back up.Halal, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free and the like only when your menu or facts say so word for word. Otherwise it tells guests to check with the restaurant.
  • No orders, payments or bookings. It's informational only. Guests get your booking link or a nudge to call — never a fake confirmation.
  • No menu dumps.Broad questions get a few categories and a follow-up question, the way a good host would answer.
  • Unsure answers get flagged.Anything it couldn't answer lands in your Review Queue, so you can add a fact and test it again.

Answers are written by an AI model that follows these rules. Rules make mistakes much rarer but can't rule them out — which is why the Review Queue exists and dietary answers carry a reminder.

Second course

Four things it does well.

  • It reads the menu you have.

Upload a PDF, a scan or a photo (JPG or PNG, up to 25 MB). SavvyMenu reads the text and splits it into sections you can review and edit. Nothing goes live until you publish.

  • It works where guests are.

One line of code adds a chat bubble to your website. A hosted menu page with a printable QR code covers tables, takeout bags — and restaurants without a website.

  • You stay in charge of the facts.

Write short facts for what a menu can't say — parking, large parties, your allergy policy. Tag dishes vegan, halal or spicy yourself. Your facts outrank the menu.

  • You see what guests ask.

Every question lands in Guests Asked. Unsure answers go to the Review Queue. Analytics shows your busiest hours and the dishes people ask about most.

Questions owners ask us.

What happens when it doesn't know something?

It says so, instead of guessing — for example “I don't see that on the menu” — and the question lands in your Review Queue. Add a custom fact or fix the menu, test it in the Playground, and the next guest gets the answer. You can reword those default replies in Settings.

How does it handle allergies and dietary questions?

It's built to call a dish vegan, halal, gluten-free, nut-free (and so on) only when your menu or your facts say so word for word — otherwise to tell the guest to check with the restaurant. Answers that use the dietary tags you set always remind guests to confirm with staff. It can still get things wrong, so keep allergy facts short and exact; what you publish is up to you.

Do I need a website?

No. Every workspace gets a hosted menu page with the assistant built in — link it from Google or Instagram — and a printable QR code for tables and takeout bags. If you do have a site, one line of code adds the chat bubble to it.

Can it take orders or reservations?

No — it's informational on purpose. When guests want to book, it shows your booking link as a button; it never pretends a booking or order went through.
